The Board of Education would like to announce Romona Wenck as our Interim Superintendent. Romona is a graduate of Cortland University (BA & MS, with minors in Psychology and Athletic Training) and College of St Rose (Administrative Certification). You may remember Romona as the Superintendent of Laurens Central School, where she retired after 23 years in that position. Romona spent her entire professional career at Laurens, first as a Physical Education and Health Teacher, before becoming Superintendent. During her tenure in Laurens, she coached a variety of sports (soccer, volleyball, basketball, softball), served as the Director of competitive color guard, sat on the Section IV Athletic council for several years, and was the Youth Soccer Coordinator for Laurens 25 years. Additionally, she sat on the Board of the Otsego County Chamber of Commerce, sitting on both the Education and Executive committees.
Since retiring, Romona has kept busy working for ONC BOCES serving a variety of school districts as a Labor Relations Specialist/Negotiator, as well as serving as a mentor for new Superintendents, and as an Interim Superintendent in both the Cooperstown and Milford School Districts.
We are fortunate to have Romona and her experience temporarily join the ECS administrative team as we search for our next Superintendent and assist with the transition of our next Superintendent.
If you see Romona please join us in welcoming her to ECS!!
