2013 Backpack

ECS BackPack Program News

Our school has been chosen as a site by the Regional Food Bank for their BackPack child nutrition program.  The BackPack Program provides a backpack of non-perishable, easy-to-prepare food to each selected child every Friday for him or her to eat throughout the weekend. The program will continue throughout the school year and there is no cost to participate in this program.

The program is paid for by donations from local companies and individuals. Donations are always accepted to help sustain the level of nutrition that can be provided to our less advantaged students. During breaks from school, donated food is delivered to the homes of the participants. Monetary donations are also used to purchase fresh milk, bread and eggs to be delivered along with the other food.

Items currently needed include:

Single serve microwavable entrees such as Easy Mac, Ravioli, Spaghetti-O’s, Velveeta Shells & Cheese

Applesauce cups

Single serve fruit cups

Canned spaghetti sauce

Treat:

Hot cocoa packets

Microwave popcorn

Donations can be dropped off at the security desk at the North Street entrance. If a receipt is desired, please leave your name and address and the value of your donation with the security desk staff and a tax deductible receipt will be mailed to you. Checks should be made payable to “The Edmeston Education Foundation”.

Please direct questions regarding the ECS BackPack Program to Laura Porter at (607) 965-8931 or by email at lporter@edmeston.net.
